56 percent

July 1, 2009

I got up at 5am 17 out of 30 days this month.

My most significant realization this month, beyond what I learned about my early morning routines, was that it’s ok to not be a perfectionist. The compromise I arrived at by the end of the month was that as long as I was thinking about it and trying a majority of the time (except for weekends) and not just giving up on it altogether, then what happens happens. It’s ok to let life run its course instead of obsessing about self-imposed rules. This is a lesson I should take forward with me, not just for experimonths, but for diet and exercise, work schedules, etc., etc.

Just because I wasn’t perfect at this experimonth doesn’t mean I failed or gave up, nor does it mean it wasn’t worth trying. And I’m ok with that. :-)
